CyScope is a modular kit for observing coastal marine biodiversity at low tide. Users can explore seaweeds, crustaceans, anemones, and more in tidal pools using assembled tubes and angled lenses, combining the principles of a periscope and bathyscope to view both micro and macro worlds beneath the water’s surface.

A clip for smartphones allows easy photo and video capture to share discoveries online. Designed to be portable and accessible, SeaScope brings marine observation to a wider audience and can connect with open data science platforms to contribute to citizen science and shore biodiversity research.

The kit’s small, lightweight components can be easily assembled, stored, and attached to a wooden stick for convenient exploration on the beach.
